Mastering Everdark Libra in Elden Ring Nightreign: A Survival Guide
Everdark Libra strategy for Elden Ring Nightreign: clear Nightfarer invaders fast, stack madness resistance, use holy or fire damage.
Stepping into the arena to face Everdark Libra in Elden Ring Nightreign is no walk in the park—it's more like a stroll through a minefield while a mad goat hurls explosions at your face. The fight is a brilliant, chaotic mess of a concept, but it's also a lot to juggle, and most players will find themselves biting the dust more times than they'd care to admit. While Everdark Augur demanded a specific weapon skill and Everdark Caligo hid behind frost armour, Everdark Libra is all about modifiers. The madness goat keeps piling on conditions mid-fight, and one of them summons a band of Nightfarer invaders who mirror the party. If those condemned aren't dealt with quickly, Libra can summon three more, bringing the total to six—and that's as painful as it sounds. Here's a recommended strategy for taking down Everdark Libra in Nightreign, along with a breakdown of what each modifier actually does.

The encounter begins as usual: a cloaked Libra offers a selection of deals, and the fight proceeds normally until he reaches about 80% health. That's when he enters his meditation state, charges up, and explodes—and that's when the real battle begins. Libra himself doesn't change much in terms of attacks, but he starts calling out a series of modifiers (which appear as text in the top right) that alter the fight. The first is "A demon summons the Condemned," which spawns three Nightfarer invaders mirroring the team composition (though they seem to have their own set weapons). These modifiers only last for a limited time, but players should defeat the invaders ASAP, since Libra can summon three more, up to a total of six. Defeating these invaders also seems to potentially trigger Libra's frenzy state, which stops him casting as much—though he's still hard to deal with. Here's a list of the modifiers Everdark Libra can call out as far as I've been able to puzzle them out:
| Modifier | Effect |
|---|---|
| A demon summons the Condemned | Spawns three Nightfarer invaders mirroring the party. Can stack up to six. |
| (Other modifiers may exist) | Additional conditions that alter the fight—keep an eye on the top-right text. |
This fight is one of those where preparation is limited beyond simply getting stronger. Obviously, a madness weapon is ideal if one can be found, but that depends on whether a madness encampment appears during the expedition or the random eye of frenzy tower event triggers. Libra is also weak to holy and fire damage, so these are solid alternatives. Madness resistance is crucial, so players should eat yellow Clarifying Boluses whenever they find them in crates, and grab any resistance talismans or boss rewards. In general, Executor or Duchess with faster melee options are recommended so players aren't stuck in animations when Libra casts his AoE ground attacks. Frost or bleed are preferred over poison and scarlet rot, since these will be great for deleting the invaders as fast as possible, allowing the team to focus on Libra. Ironeye has always been great for this fight, but Ironeye is annoying as hell as an invader, so bringing more than one might be a mistake—especially since having two seems to add an Ironeye invader with a Jar Cannon. Honestly, the invader weapon sets get worse if there are two of that character in a team, but don't quote me on that.

Everdark Libra's attacks are pretty much unchanged, but there are a few to watch out for. Goat hops: In his frenzy state, Libra jumps consecutively at the player, creating a small madness explosion each time. Just like the Omenkillers in the original Elden Ring, he follows up with multiple hops, so keep dodging. Madness machine gun: Libra summons a turret that slowly spins around, firing madness projectiles. It isn't that deadly as long as players pay attention to its turning circle and don't get caught in it. Madness discs: Honestly, the bane of this entire fight. As with the original Libra, these AoE circles appear below the player before exploding and inflicting madness. This is one reason fast dex-based melee is recommended over slow strength weapons—the discs appear so quickly that it's easy to be stuck in an attack animation.
A few other tips can help beat Everdark Libra. First, Ironeye is a double-edged… err, bow. Ironeye was always great against Libra, allowing players to stay away from his AoEs and annoying melee attacks. But facing multiple Ironeyes in PvP—potentially up to six at a time depending on team composition and how fast they're killed—is painful for chip damage and poison. They also aren't particularly confrontational, so players have to go to them. It's best not to bring more than one Ironeye, especially since two seems to give one invader a Jar Cannon, Cannon Greatshield, and a damage resistance flask. Second, madness resistance is always useful, even if it's not down to the player how much they find. Whether it's chomping on Clarifying Boluses, choosing resistance as a boss reward, or killing the odd scarab to see if a resistance talisman drops, it's worth grabbing. Madness-inflicting weapons can also be found at camps with the madness icon or the tower event that sometimes happens near the lake. Even if that event doesn't occur, killing enemies around that broken tower can yield Clarifying Boluses. And don't forget to grab the little orbs Libra drops during the fight—they reduce madness buildup, and defeated invaders also drop orbs that seem to give an attack bonus.
Fast melee characters like Executor and Duchess are arguably the best for this fight. Their speedy attacks mean they won't get caught in ground AoEs as easily, and their dex-based weapons are great for murdering invaders quickly with frost and bleed. Of course, players will have to fight those invaders as well, but Executor's beast ult and Duchess's invisibility provide an advantage. Most of this fight isn't actually about struggling to hit Libra; it's about dealing with the invaders quickly so there's time to do damage. While madness is a good status to apply—it causes Libra to enter his frenzy state and stop casting—players will also deal bonus damage against him with holy or fire. If Vyke's War Spear can't be obtained from the random frenzy tower event, keep an eye out for holy or fire weapons, or even bring a holy weapon using relics and upgrade it during the expedition.
Ultimately, this fight comes down to learning Libra's modifiers and responding to them appropriately while grabbing as much madness resistance as possible. It's a tough nut to crack, but with the right team composition, a bit of luck, and quick reflexes, players can send this mad goat packing. Just remember: those orbs are your friends, invaders are your priority, and never, ever bring two Ironeyes. 😉
